Client Device Onboarding

beem Agentless Setup

In agentless mode, sites and SIM‑based devices connect directly to the beemNet via the Swisscom network. No app or manual configuration is required, the devices automatically become part of the central security and policy framework.

  1. Prerequisite of Device Compatibility
Confirm whether your device supports eSIM technology. You can usually find this information in your device settings or on the manufacturer’s official website.

  2. License Assignment
Before proceeding, ensure that the correct license (Protect & Connect) is assigned to your user in the beem Hub. This is required for agentless operation.

  3. eSIM Activation Process

    • Scan the eSIM QR Code
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the eSIM directly on your device.
    • If you are using a dual-SIM setup, make sure to select the beem eSIM line for mobile data usage. This setting can be adjusted later in your device’s mobile network settings.

beem Agent-Based Setup (beem App)

In agent-based mode, the beem App establishes a secure connection to the beemNet, enabling additional security features such as Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). For this reason, using the beem App is recommended over the purely agentless mode when enhanced protection is required.

  1. Download the beem app: Use the latest version of the app for your device.

beem Device Management Enrollment

beem Device Management simplifies the policy management of mobile devices used within your company. Instead of configuring each device manually, beem automatically applies security settings to all enrolled devices as defined by the administrator. You can activate beem Device Management in the beem Hub.

For detailed information about this feature, visit the beem Device Management page.

INFO

Currently, beem Device Management is available for Apple (iOS, iPadOS, macOS) and Samsung (Android One UI) devices. Support for other devices and operating systems is in development.

Apple devices

Enrolling iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices into beem Device Management requires Device Management for Apple to be activated, an active Apple Business Manager (ABM) account and an activated security policy for the device OS. If you do not have an ABM account, the beem Device Management setup guide in the beem Hub will take you to the creation process. Once you have an ABM account, you need to create an additional ABM Admin User for Swisscom to enable beem integration.
